This past Friday, we kicked off our First Annual Visual Storage Intelligence AI Hackathon. Seven teams comprised of Southern Methodist University and University of Texas-Dallas students joined us at Venture X, in Dallas, Texas. The teams will be competing to deliver automated status reports using AI and natural language processing.

On Friday, the teams were briefed on the product, Visual Storage Intelligence, and received a general overview of storage and the various issues that are affecting enterprises today. Teams are given one week to develop and present a business case and POC at the semi-final. They will then be presenting to a panel of judges comprised of current VSI clients, developers, and partners. Two teams will be chosen to move on to the final round where they will have an additional week to work on their solution and improve upon their POC, incorporating predictive analytics, natural language processing, and AI. Winners of the semi-finals will receive a $500 cash prize and the final winning team will receive a grand prize of $2,000.  The Semi-finals will be held on Saturday, February 15, followed by the finals on Saturday, February 22.
